Alice 03:01
ALICE she was new to my favorite city the city of berlin she was playing all the songs she new and her dress was waving in the wind she was singing to the people that hung around to see and though I was standing in the back of the crowd I knew she was singing for me alice where will you be singing tonight where will you be singing your songs to a silent crowd I want to see you so the next time that I saw her I made my way right through the crowd and though I took all of my courage I did not dare to ask her out but I heard her in my dreams that night her voice was loud and clear I sit here now can't get her out of my head wishing she was here alice where will you be singing tonight where will you be singing your songs to a silent crowd I want to see you alice everybody there is going to love you cause wherever you go and whatever you do they love to see you and the last time that I saw her the crowd had grown so large there was no way to get through to her so I am shouting from the far... alice where will you be singing tonight where will you be singing your songs to a silent crowd I want to see you come on, alice everybody there is going to love you wherever you go and whatever you do they love to see you

Time 03:53
TIME that's some beautiful make-up you've got where did you find these colors but you're mind it isn't made up you need to know the details first something is still holding you back again and again up in the air off to another country to love another soldier you want a last look at the world you know but looking back it's not the world you used to know time, don't take you back it's only moving on it's a waste of time to get caught in the wrong state of mind for too long as I open up my door to you you say you were just stopping by but slipping in now you lie down and you're sad but you don't know why you want a last look at the world you know but looking back it's not the world you used to know time, don't take you back it's only moving on it's a waste of time to get caught in the wrong state of mind for too long

A STRANGER IN MY OWN COUNTRY well, it started as two falling leaves a silent hint of nothingness just tumbling in the wind we were dancing out to Dylan songs in a tenement that was small but warm and surely, we were home darling, I've been lonely since you left me stranded in my own country a stranger in my own county feeling anything and everything but being home you were calm before the storm you must have known what was to come cause darling, you always knew more than me but wordlessly silently you drifted away now I dance alone to Dylan songs but my steps, they are just off and wrong too blind to find my way home darling, I've been lonely since you left me stranded in my own country a stranger in my own county feeling anything and everything but feeling home

THE END OF THE FALL where I did come from I left not much behind not even a ghost between the lines my letters never were sent and the stuffy halls waited in silence for my calls and the flowers slowly withered by the end of the fall by the end of the fall nothing felt like before I whisked the summer away and all I am left with are the thoughts of my childhood the wind takes them away

Come Along 03:33
COME ALONG our stories, we're on the same page two countries, your night is my day I'm your future, always one step ahead but I can't step far enough to slip into your bed you are far away but I can feel you sometimes I work like a dog and I save every dime still a year or two till I see you again is it money or a decision or just faith in the end I know love happens in its own time I know that you gotta stay true I know there is a place where you belong and if you wait I will come along with you oh, I know you now, will I know you when the money comes in and we have found ourselves do we still believe in what we've planted back then which grows into our garden? I know love happens in its own time I know that you gotta stay true I know there is a place where you belong and if you wait I will come along with you

The Bargain 03:24
THE BARGAIN do you understand the bargain that you made you bought three colors you could have had them all but you went for less in your lifelessness would you do it again? with their sprawled hands they reach out for your soul while you are slowly fading and again you stare, stupid and unprepared and you scream this ain't fair let me out cause you can say what you want but if you can't pay for it you go insane you go insane and you can play what you want but if you can't savor that you go insane you go insane there ain't no use to shed your sicknesses for you will not truly master them not with their heads over your shoulder and their trident in their edacious hands Oh, what have you got yourself into you're so much better off without them Oh, what have you got yourself into you go insane, ooohoohoo Cos you can say what you want and if you can't pay for it you go insane you go insane you can play what you want but if you can't savor that you go insane you go insane

Heartless 03:16
HEARTLESS he's out in the pouring rain you ask him to come in he gladly strides your way he stays for a while you feel it starting from within could this have been your lucky day but when the storm really hits he's nowhere to be found hides his head inside a cloud you don't want to be the one he's heartless, heartless to fall in love with him he's heartless, heartless you don't want to be the one he's heartless, heartless behind his dreadful grin you see a soul ready to be saved at least you're gonna try still in belief that there is an honest man behind his honest eyes but when the storm really hits he's nowhere to be found hides his head inside a cloud you don't want to be the one he's heartless, heartless to fall in love with him he's heartless, heartless you don't want to be the one he's heartless, heartless

The Path 04:07
THE PATH when I was twenty-one I left my home because my pockets were full and my heart was still empty I had realized my only goal was to take the path that was chosen for me so I went as far as my money would take me to where beggars live like ordinary men and though no one here expects me to I still try to take the path that was chosen for me to take the path that was chosen just for me for a while I was happy got myself lost in this town's sound but one early morning my dream came tumbling down I thought that I liked that but as my clothes were drenched to the bone I realized that this place doesn't feel like home I thought that I liked it I was fine for a while on my own I thought that I liked it but I don't now I take that path that was chosen for me now I take the path that was chosen just for me

DANNY KNOWS A SECRET Danny knows a secret learns it twice a day quick steps on the pavement in the desert of his dreams he is slipping through the shadows cast by his own will he keeps fumbling with a watch that is standing still he wants to know what time it is so he suddenly turns right to a man who's hands cling tightly to the coil of his kite he is trying to block the sun so his fawn might fall asleep Danny grabs the line to help a man in need after he had done his deed he was tired down to the bone the sun had left him shivering but he was as happy as he was cold so he continued on his way just to keep himself warm when the clouds hung dark and low he was walking with the storm if he could keep up with his breath he might go on for days looking for that creek down in the milky forest glade his wishes they lay bare for him at least this time around in this place without a secret he sleeps safe and sound

WEARING A SMILE how did you guess what I was thinking did you see the mess in my head how long did it take you to come up with a story like that what the hell, girl, was I thinking as I was waiting for you while my heart froze deeper and deeper going this way you choose I've been moving on, I thought but I was standing still I have fled your thrill but you're still haunting me what to do what to say no need to ask you won't tell me anyway and by the end of the day I'm chasing my lies I am tired but I'm dressed in a smile I'm chasing my lies wasting my time I'm chasing my lies wasting my time but I'm wearing a smile do you remember when we used to lie so peacefully I'd sing 'lay lady lay' again and again but you turned so alien to me I've been moving on, I thought but I was standing still I have fled your thrill but you're still haunting me what to do what to say no need to ask you won't tell me anyway and by the end of the day I'm chasing my lies I am tired but I'm dressed in a smile I'm chasing my lies wasting my time I'm chasing my lies wasting my time but I'm wearing a smile I am chasing my lies wasting my time but I'm wearing a smile

Hero 04:55
HERO somebody help me I got stuck in my head and my horizon is the ledge of my bed somebody take my arm and pull me away away from the thoughts of the things that I can't change I thought I need to be a hero I felt the heavens falling down but now I see I'm on a payroll and that is all this is about someone please find me I can't say where I am somewhere between education and ignorance I haven't read the book that explains everything only the books that tell you backwards where to begin I thought I need to be wise but wisdom is not enough instead I see that all is lost in the quarrel of the guns who are these men well-read and rich I've never seen them on the streets could it be that they would see a difference between us and them man indeed a difference between I thought I need to be a hero I felt the heavens falling down

about

Nature in the City Berlin, Germany

We're Robin and Johannes. Nature in the City is all about evolution, not unlike both the natural processes of nature and cities. Our music is a rhythmic documentary of cross cultural experiences, from Boston to Berlin. It's a curious exploration of the intricacies of the very things that make us human. ... more
